On Friday, singer Angie Stone lost her life in a vehicle accident in Montgomery, Alabama. Stone was married to Rodney Stone and was a trailblazing member of the renowned hip-hop duo The Sequence. Rodney, who also went by Lil’ Rodney C!, was a member of the Funky Four Plus One hip-hop trio. Diamond, their daughter, was born in 1984 after they were married in the early 1980s. A couple of years later, they filed for divorce. Stone began dating D’Angelo, a neo-soul musician, in the 1990s. They received their son, Michael D’Angelo Archer II, in 1998.
Van Silk, a veteran promoter, also verified her death.
“I received a call from her team stating that Angie passed,” he stated in a statement to AllHipHop.
“I assumed it was related to the kidney dialysis she was receiving, but it turned out to be a serious car accident involving nine individuals in a Sprinter van returning to Atlanta after a show in Alabama. We will text or contact each other in the morning, so I shall miss Angie in particular,” he continued.
