The fate of 272 candidates—158 from the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and 114 from the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC)—now lies in the electronic voting machines, with election results expected soon. Among the 158 candidates in KHADC, 12 are women, while seven women are among the 114 candidates in JHADC.
