In a thrilling finish, the first nine takers all converted their penalties, and the sides were level 1-1 after 90 minutes and extra time. Sels then lunged to his left to thwart Jack Taylor’s effort, securing Forest’s spot in Brighton’s round of eight.

Nottingham Forest defeated Ipswich Town and advanced to the FA Cup quarterfinals on Monday thanks to a heroic save by goalkeeper Matz Sels on the final penalty in a shootout.
In a thrilling finish, the first nine takers all converted their penalties, and the sides were level 1-1 after 90 minutes and extra time.
Sels then lunged to his left to thwart Jack Taylor’s effort, securing Forest’s spot in Brighton’s round of eight.
The shootout followed a gripping game at City Ground that was tighter than the teams’ Premier League positions suggested.
The home team, which is ranked third above Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United, has been the league’s surprise package.
However, eight minutes into the second half, George Hirst’s header at the back post gave Ipswich, who finished third to last in the league, the lead.
Ryan Yates headed home after Anthony Elanga’s enticing cross from the right put Forest back on equal terms.
A few minutes later, Yates’ second goal was disallowed, and seven minutes from the end, Callum Hudson-Odoi struck the crossbar with a long-range attempt. It went to penalties even though both teams worked hard to win, particularly during the final 30 minutes of extra time.
“I was in the right corner (for) only for that penalty!” Sels stated. “One of the goalkeepers will be the hero in penalties.” I’m content. I am eagerly awaiting the weekend.
